Lakeview — Hunter’s Hot Springs and Drews Valley Viewpoint
Old Perpetual, the geyser at Hunter’s Hot Springs Resort just north of Lakeview on US-395, is a legit oddity — it erupts every 90 seconds or so, shooting scalding water 60 feet into the air. The resort has been through ownership changes and is not always fully operational, but the geyser itself keeps going regardless of who’s running the front desk. Worth a 10-minute stop if you’re staging for the Abert Rim, Hart Mountain, or Drake Peak runs out of Lakeview.
Located right on US-395 about a mile north of Lakeview, so zero off-road commitment required. Check current status of the resort before expecting amenities — services have been inconsistent. The geyser itself is viewable from the road. Elevation is around 4,800 feet; winds rip through this valley, especially in spring.
Oregon's only active geyser. Weird and worth it.
