Fremont-Winema National Forest — Corral Creek Campground
Corral Creek sits in the ponderosa and lodgepole fringe of the Fremont-Winema at roughly 5,400 feet, a no-frills dispersed-style developed camp with a handful of pull-through sites suited for rigs with trailers. It’s uncrowded outside of deer season and sits within easy striking distance of the Abert Rim road, Winter Rim, and Drake Peak. Vault toilet on site. No piped water — carry your own or filter from the creek if it’s running. Fire rings at each site.
Access is via USFS Road 28 off Highway 31 north of Lakeview. Road is gravel, washboardy in spots, passable for high-clearance 2WD. Snow can linger into May and return by November at this elevation. Cell signal is essentially absent once you leave the highway corridor.
Quiet USFS base in Oregon Outback pine country.
