Spruce Lake Protected Area — Spruce Lake Horse Camp Trailhead
Tucked into the South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park buffer zone, this dedicated horse camp and trailhead sits at the end of the Spruce Lake FSR and serves as the primary launch point for the Spruce Lake wildlands interior. You’ll find a gravel staging area large enough for rigs towing horse trailers or bike shuttles, a BC Parks information kiosk, vault toilets, and hitching posts. It’s the real-deal gateway into some of the best alpine terrain in the southern Interior — not a tourist trailhead, a working one.
Access is via the Mud Creek or Tyaughton Creek FSR network off Gold Bridge Road. Road is rough gravel and dirt, high-clearance strongly recommended. Staging area fills fast on summer long weekends — arrive Thursday or early Friday if you want elbow room. No drinking water on site; bring everything you need.
