Spruce Lake Recreation Site — Spruce Lake Wildlands
Spruce Lake Recreation Site sits at the eastern gateway to the Spruce Lake Protected Area in the South Chilcotin Mountains, roughly 60 km northwest of Gold Bridge via the Tyaughton Creek FSR. It’s a raw, no-frills camp — a few flat spots near the lakeshore, a pit toilet, and mountain views that’ll shut you up mid-sentence. The lake holds good trout fishing and the surrounding terrain feeds into the Yalakom and Taseko drainages. Expect zero amenities beyond a fire ring and outhouse.
Access is via Tyaughton Creek FSR and then the Gun Creek Road — high-clearance recommended, 4WD if it’s been wet. The road is deactivated in sections and can be rough. Season runs June through October depending on snowpack. No cell, no reservations, no cost. This one’s self-sufficient country — pack accordingly.
