Manistee River Access Point 7 Dispersed Sites
A cluster of informal sites along the Manistee River’s upper reaches, tucked into mixed hardwood forest. About 6 established spots with fire rings, most accommodating 2-3 rigs with decent spacing. The river here runs cold and clear — solid brown trout fishing and good for filtering water. Pine needles make for comfortable sleeping. Gets some weekend pressure from locals but quiets down weekdays.
Follow Forest Road 5993 west from Highway 37 for about 4 miles to the marked access point. Road stays decent in dry weather but can get slick when wet. No facilities beyond the fire rings. Mosquitoes can be rough in summer. Best fishing in early morning and evening.
