Manistee National Forest Udell Hills Dispersed Area
A quiet dispersed area tucked into the rolling terrain east of Baldwin, offering maybe 8-10 sites scattered through mature oak and maple forest. Most spots are pull-offs along old logging roads with decent spacing between rigs. Fire rings at some sites, no facilities beyond that. Gets busy during fall color season and deer hunting — spring and early summer are your best bet for solitude.
Access via Forest Road 5629 off M-37, about 4 miles of decent gravel. High-clearance helps but not required. Some two-tracks branch deeper into the hills for more remote spots but can get soft after rain.
