Manistee National Forest Baldwin Two-Track Dispersed Area
Multiple primitive camping spots spread along the maze of sand two-tracks that branch off Forest Road 5716 east of Baldwin. Sites range from small single-rig pullouts to clearings that can handle a group of 4-5 vehicles. Most have user-built fire rings and decent tree cover. Gets moderate use from 4WD groups running the nearby technical trails, but you can usually find a spot.
Sand roads can be tricky — aired-down tires help, and 4WD is recommended if it’s been dry. The whole area is basically a giant sandbox, so expect to dig out if you get cocky. Water and supplies available back in Baldwin, about 15 minutes away on pavement.
