Little Sahara’s 1,600 acres of white sand dunes rise up from the prairie like something out of Arabia, complete with shifting sands that’ll swallow tire tracks within hours. The main dune field stretches nearly three miles north to south, with bowl-shaped valleys and ridgelines that test everything from stock UTVs to heavily modified sand rails. The Big Hill area on the east side offers the steepest climbs, while the family area near the entrance keeps things mellow for newcomers.
This is pure sand driving — deep, soft, and unforgiving to anything without proper tires and momentum. Stock 4WDs can handle the perimeter trails and smaller dunes, but you’ll want paddle tires for the serious stuff. Summer brings 100-degree heat that’ll cook you and your radiator, so spring and fall offer the best conditions. No permits required beyond the $10 park entry fee.
