Harrison Lake East Shore Road
Hot springs and salmon runs since time began
Harrison Lake East Shore Road hugs the longest lake in southwestern BC, winding past steaming hot springs and active logging operations through traditional Sts’ailes territory. The maintained gravel surface makes easy work for most vehicles, but seasonal logging truck traffic demands constant vigilance and CB radio awareness. Key stops include the naturally heated Harrison Hot Springs and the historical Chehalis River confluence where Indigenous peoples have fished for salmon runs for millennia.
This easy route welcomes any vehicle with reasonable ground clearance, though dust and occasional washboard sections shake loose gear. Best experienced April through October when logging operations are most active and hot springs most enjoyable. Fuel up in Harrison Hot Springs village before heading north — services are nonexistent beyond the halfway point. The route offers excellent lakeside camping, world-class fishing, and glimpses into BC’s ongoing resource economy mixed with its deep Indigenous heritage.
