Nahatlatch Provincial Park — Frances Lake Campground

Established Campground

Frances Lake sits inside Nahatlatch Provincial Park about 35 km up the Nahatlatch FSR from Highway 1 near Boston Bar. The campground has 18 sites spread along the lakeshore, pit toilets, and fire rings — no hookups, no reservations, just first-come. The lake is clean, the old-growth hemlock around the sites is impressive, and paddlers run the Nahatlatch River canyon sections nearby. It’s a legitimate riverside and lake basecamp for anyone working the Fraser Canyon corridor or linking toward the Stein Valley and Bridge River Country.

The Nahatlatch FSR is active logging road — watch for loaded trucks on weekdays. Road surface is gravel with some rougher sections after spring runoff. High-clearance is recommended; 4WD not required in dry conditions. Season typically runs May through October depending on snowpack. No cell service once you leave the highway.
