Susquehanna State Forest Middle Ridge Road Dispersed Area
A series of pull-offs and small clearings along Middle Ridge Road offer quiet dispersed camping with decent valley views through the hardwood forest. The sites are basic — just level spots big enough for a few vehicles with existing fire rings at most locations. Capacity runs 8-12 vehicles total spread across about two miles of road. Weekends see moderate use from hunters and local campers, but midweek you’ll likely have it to yourself.
Access via Middle Ridge Road off Route 144 — the first three miles are decent gravel, but the surface gets rougher with some washouts and loose rocks. High-clearance 2WD can make it in dry conditions, but 4WD is safer after rain. No services, no water, and cell service is spotty at best. Fire restrictions apply during dry periods.
