Spruce Lake Trailhead — South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park

Trailhead

This is the jump-off for the South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park trail network — one of BC’s most underrated alpine destinations. The trailhead sits at the end of Mud Creek FSR out of Gold Bridge and gives access to Spruce Lake, Taylor Creek, and the routes deeper into the Chilcotin highland. It’s a working trailhead with a small parking area, pit toilet, and trail register. Horse trailers come through regularly in summer, so space can be tight on long weekends.

Access is via the Mud Creek FSR from Gold Bridge — high-clearance recommended, 4WD helpful if wet. Snow can linger past late June at elevation. No water at the trailhead itself; filter from the creek below. This is the trailhead overlanders running Carpenter Lake to Tyaughton Creek FSR routes will encounter at the end of the pavement drop.

Gateway into the South Chilcotin wilderness.
