Noaxe Creek FSR to Miner’s Bluff — Bridge River Country

Gold rush ghosts and canyon views above Bridge River.

Difficult

The Bridge River district has been kicking around in BC mining lore since the 1850s, and the Noaxe Creek FSR corridor north of Lillooet taps into that ghost-town history while delivering a genuine backcountry challenge. The route branches off the Bridge River Road west of Lillooet and climbs steadily through dry Interior Douglas-fir and open ridges with consistent views of the Bridge River valley below. The road narrows as you push north, and a series of tight, eroded corners above Noaxe Creek demand attention — this isn’t a road where you set the cruise control. Miner’s Bluff at the top delivers a wide-open panorama over the Bridge River canyon and the Hurley Range to the northwest.

Moderate difficulty on the lower sections; the upper Noaxe Creek cutoff earns a Difficult rating after any wet weather when the clay-heavy sections turn to grease. A lifted truck with 4WD is the minimum — a locker on the rear helps on the off-camber clay corners. Best driven July through September; the lower elevation dries faster than the upper sections. No permit required. Fuel in Lillooet. This is a day-run for most, but there’s dispersed camping on Crown land along the lower FSR. Expect zero cell service the moment you leave the Bridge River Road.
