Carpenter Lake — Seton Portage Recreation Site
Seton Portage Recreation Site sits right where Carpenter Lake narrows toward the Seton Lake portage, giving you flat gravel pull-throughs, a boat launch, and big water views. It’s a legit free camp with fire rings and pit toilets — nothing fancy, but it handles rigs of any size and keeps you within striking distance of the Tyaughton Creek FSR, Gun Creek, and Spruce Lake approaches. Busy on summer long weekends but generally uncrowded midweek.
Access is off Carpenter Lake Road (Gold Bridge Road) on well-maintained gravel — any vehicle can make it. Cell service is essentially nonexistent out here; download your maps before you leave Lillooet or Gold Bridge. Water from the lake should be treated before drinking.
Lakeside basecamp for South Chilcotin runs.
