Cayoosh Creek Canyon — Duffey Lake Road Viewpoint
Running the Hurley River FSR or anything in the Pemberton-to-Lillooet corridor means you’re on the Duffey Lake Road (Highway 99) at some point. Cayoosh Creek Canyon is the undisputed visual highlight of that stretch — the creek hammers through a narrow rock gorge right below the road edge, and there are established pull-offs where you can step out and take it in. No facilities, no charge, no crowds on weekdays. In snowmelt season the water is a violent turquoise that’ll stop you mid-bite of a sandwich.
The pull-offs are unsigned but well-worn. The road itself is paved but steep and winding — trailers need competent drivers. In winter this stretch can close or require chains; check DriveBC before departure. Cell service is spotty through the canyon but improves near Lillooet and Pemberton.
