Sossusvlei Desert Lodge Area
Scattered sites in the desert scrub outside Sossusvlei-Sesriem National Park, offering budget camping with front-row seats to the world’s highest sand dunes. No facilities whatsoever — just park wherever the ground is level and the lodge won’t complain. Popular with overland Africa travelers who can’t afford park accommodation but want proximity to the dunes for sunrise photography.
Access via graded gravel roads from the C27. Sites are literally wherever you stop in the desert — pick your view. Water must be carried from Sesriem or Solitaire. Extreme temperature swings and occasional desert winds. Some sites get claimed by tour groups, so arrive early.
