Sesriem Campsite — Namib-Naukluft National Park

Established Campground

Sesriem Campsite sits just inside the park’s main entrance gate in the Tsauchab River valley, roughly 60 km east of the Kuiseb Canyon corridor. It’s a proper NWR-run facility: designated pitches, flush toilets, hot showers, braai stands, and a small pool — luxury by Namib standards. Sites are spread across a flat, gravel and scrub savanna setting with low camel thorn trees offering token shade. The real prize is gate access: only guests staying inside get through the boom at 05h00, giving you first light on the dunes before the day-tripper buses arrive. Book well ahead for peak season (June–September). The camp shop and fuel pump at the adjacent Sesriem Lodge are your last fuel stop before the sand.

The road in from the C19 is paved. High-clearance 2WD is fine to the campsite; the push to Sossusvlei itself requires 4WD or the shuttle from the 2WD car park at the vlei road terminus. Cell signal is essentially zero inside the park. Reservations through NamibiaWilderness Resorts (NWR) — book as far out as possible.
