Olympic National Park Sol Duc Campground

Established Campground

Sol Duc sits 12 miles up a winding valley road, surrounded by cathedral-tall Douglas firs and Sitka spruces draped in moss. The 82-site campground hugs the Sol Duc River, where the constant sound of rushing water mixes with winter wren songs. Sites are well-spaced among the giants, most accommodating rigs up to 35 feet. The nearby Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort offers soaking pools and a restaurant, though day-use fees apply.

Reservations essential June through September when the Pacific Northwest finally dries out. The access road is paved but narrow with RV length restrictions. Expect rain gear weather even in summer — this is temperate rainforest country where 140+ inches fall annually. Sites fill early with weekenders from Seattle and Portland. Winter closures typically run November through March due to snow and storm damage.
