Olympic National Forest Campbell Tree Grove Dispersed Area

A handful of unofficial campsites scattered through massive Douglas fir and hemlock along the Sol Duc River. No facilities except fire rings left by previous campers and access to the river for water (treat it). Sites are just pull-offs along Forest Road 29, some barely wide enough for a single rig. The forest canopy is thick enough to keep things cool even in summer, and the river provides constant white noise.

Access via a rough gravel forest road that gets slick when wet — high-clearance recommended though careful 2WD rigs make it. Popular with steelhead fishermen in season. 14-day limit but rarely enforced unless you’re obviously living there. No cell service whatsoever.
