Green Mountain National Forest Kelly Stand Road Mile 3 Dispersed Area
Several clearings along Kelly Stand Road where old logging camps and homesteads once stood — you’ll find stone foundations and rusted artifacts mixed with the campsites. Stream access to West Branch Deerfield River for water (filter required), sites scattered through maple-birch forest with natural fire rings. Popular with leaf peepers in fall, quieter in summer. Fire restrictions during dry periods.
Rough dirt road requiring high clearance, especially the final mile to better sites. Road can be muddy and rutted after rain, impassable during mud season (late March-early May). No facilities, strict Leave No Trace. Limited winter access — road not maintained for snow.
