BLM Massacre Rim Dispersed Area
Sprawling dispersed camping area along the Massacre Rim escarpment in Nevada’s remote Washoe County, offering scattered sites with commanding views across the high desert. The rim itself rises over 1,000 feet above the valley floor, creating dramatic sunrise and sunset backdrops. Sites are naturally separated by sagebrush and scattered juniper, with plenty of room for large rigs. Fire restrictions typically apply May through September.
Access via graded dirt roads that become muddy in wet conditions. No facilities whatsoever — pack water and pack out trash. Cell service is nonexistent. Popular with astronomy enthusiasts due to exceptional dark skies. Winter access can be challenging with snow at elevation.
