Noel Booth Recreation Site — Carpenter Lake Road
Noel Booth Recreation Site sits right on Carpenter Lake along the Carpenter Lake Road — the same corridor that feeds overlanders into the South Chilcotin, Gun Creek, and Tyaughton FSR country. It’s a primitive, no-frills BC Forest Service site with a handful of spots, a basic pit toilet, and unobstructed lake views. Expect gravel flats, firepits, and a boat launch nearby. Gets used by anglers and local families on summer weekends but rarely packed. Good staging point the night before a push into the South Chilcotin backcountry.
Access is via paved and good-gravel Carpenter Lake Road from Gold Bridge or Lillooet — manageable for most two-wheel-drive rigs with decent clearance. Water from the lake is not potable without treatment. No cell signal. Stays are limited to the standard BCFS 14-day maximum. Confirm current fire restriction status before lighting up — the Chilcotin dries fast in summer.
Lake-edge staging for South Chilcotin runs.
