Gun Creek Recreation Site — South Chilcotin Mountains
Gun Creek Recreation Site sits along the creek of the same name off the Tyaughton-Gun Creek FSR corridor, roughly north of Gold Bridge. It’s a small, forested BC Forest Service site — flat pull-throughs, fire rings, and basic pit toilets. Gets used hard by hunters in fall and by backcountry riders all summer, but it rarely fills midweek. Quiet spot with the creek running alongside — good ambient noise, cold water nearby.
Access is via gravel FSR from Gold Bridge; high-clearance 2WD handles it in dry conditions. Road can get greasy after rain. No fee, no reservation — first come, first served. Season typically runs June through October depending on snowpack. No garbage service; pack it out.
Creek-side base camp for South Chilcotin rigs.
