Starved Rock State Park Campground
Starved Rock sits on the Illinois River with 133 campsites spread across wooded ridges and river bottomland. The campground has flush toilets, hot showers, and electrical hookups at most sites. Cell service is solid with Verizon and AT&T. Weekend crowds from Chicago can be intense — weekday visits are much quieter.
Access is straight off I-80 via paved roads. The park stays open year-round, though water gets shut off in winter. Reservations are essential May through October. Popular base camp for exploring the river canyons and waterfalls.
