Spicer Reservoir Dispersed Camping

Scattered along the shoreline of this scenic mountain reservoir are dozens of informal camping spots tucked between granite boulders and pine trees. The lake offers excellent trout fishing and small boat launching, with dramatic granite formations rising directly from the water. Sites range from lakefront spots perfect for small rigs to more secluded areas back in the trees – most can handle trailers up to about 25 feet.

Access via Spicer Reservoir Road requires about 7 miles of decent gravel road from Highway 4. The area fills up quickly on summer weekends with Bay Area families, but weekdays and shoulder seasons offer plenty of solitude. No facilities, so bring water and pack out trash. Road typically accessible May through October.
