Bear Valley Mountain Resort

Situated at the base of Bear Valley Ski Area, this mountain resort serves as a critical resupply point for overlanders exploring the Sierra Nevada backcountry. The complex includes a gas station, general store, restaurant, and seasonal accommodations. It’s particularly busy during ski season (December-April) and summer hiking months, but remains accessible year-round for fuel and basic supplies.

Located directly off Highway 4, it’s easily accessible by any vehicle. The gas station stays open later than most mountain stops, making it a reliable fuel source for evening arrivals. Cell service is decent here, and it’s often the last full-service stop before heading into more remote terrain.
