Sinnemahoning State Park Wild Turkey Loop Dispersed Area
A handful of primitive sites tucked into the forest along the Wild Turkey Trail system, where Pennsylvania’s elk herd frequently moves through at first light. These spots are scattered along the 6-mile loop, accessible via short spurs from the main trail. Most accommodate 2-3 vehicles max, with natural windbreaks from towering hemlocks. Fire restrictions mirror the main park rules — contained fires only, with rings provided at two locations.
Access requires a short drive on maintained gravel roads, then brief walks to individual sites. The area stays quiet except during fall hunting seasons and peak elk viewing times in September. No facilities whatsoever — pack out everything. Spring access can be muddy after snowmelt.
