Elk Country Visitor Center Campground
This modest 20-site campground sits right in Benezette, the heart of Pennsylvania’s elk country. Basic sites with electric hookups, restrooms, and showers serve overlanders exploring the Elk State Forest roads and nearby Quehanna Wild Area trails. The location is perfect for early morning and evening elk viewing along Winslow Hill Road. Sites are close together but functional, with gravel pads and picnic tables.
The campground fills during elk rutting season (September-October) when hundreds of wildlife watchers descend on the area. Access is easy via paved roads from Route 555. No reservations taken — it’s first-come, first-served. Winter operations are weather-dependent.
