Moshannon State Forest Quehanna Highway Mile 15 Dispersed Area
Scattered pull-offs along the legendary Quehanna Highway where the pavement ends and the real Pennsylvania wilderness begins. Half a dozen informal sites in mixed hardwood forest, most big enough for a single rig. Fire rings at some spots, established over decades of use by hunters and stargazers. This is proper backcountry — no facilities, no trash service, pack out everything. Popular during elk season but otherwise empty.
Access from the east via Route 120 through Sinnemahoning, or from the west through Karthaus. Road surface varies from decent gravel to rough dirt depending on recent maintenance. High-clearance helpful but not required in dry conditions. Zero cell service and miles from anywhere.
