Little Sahara State Park Sand Dunes
Oklahoma’s own slice of the Sahara — rolling sand hills up to 75 feet tall that shift and change with every storm. Most folks come here to rip around on ATVs, but the overlanding crowd shows up for the otherworldly sunset views from the high dunes and the surprisingly challenging sand driving. The main dune area is open to all vehicles, but stick to marked areas or you’ll be digging out for hours.
Park entrance is well-signed off Highway 412 west of Enid. Sand gets deep fast once you leave the hardpack, so air down and know your recovery techniques. Best light for photos is golden hour, but weekends turn into a motorized circus. Camping is available in the adjacent campground if you want to catch sunrise over the dunes.
