Imintji Community Campground — Gibb River Road Western Approach

Established Campground

Imintji Community runs this campground just off the Gibb River Road, roughly midway between Derby and the Manning Gorge turnoff. It’s a simple setup — grassed sites under sprawling boabs, basic ablutions, and access to the community store where you can top up fuel and grab supplies before pushing deeper into the Kimberley. The store hours are limited and seasonal, so don’t bet your last litre of diesel on it — confirm ahead. Capacity is modest and it fills up during the dry season peak (June–August) with convoys rolling both directions on the Gibb.

Access is straightforward off the Gibb River Road — high-clearance 4WD strongly recommended given the corrugations and creek crossings either side. The community asks that visitors respect local protocols: no alcohol on community land. Dry season only — the Gibb becomes impassable in the wet.

Boab shade, fuel & community-run camp on the Gibb.
