Hungry Mother State Park Campground
Set on the shores of 108-acre Hungry Mother Lake, this established campground offers 49 sites split between RV-friendly spots with hookups and tent sites tucked into mixed pine and hardwood forest. The lake provides good smallmouth bass fishing and non-motorized boating, while a sandy beach area draws families during summer months. Sites 21-30 offer the best lake views but fill first during peak season. The campground stays busy from Memorial Day through Labor Day and during fall foliage season.
All sites include fire rings and picnic tables, with modern bathhouses and a camp store on-site. The park’s 12 miles of hiking trails connect to nearby Jefferson National Forest. Reservations strongly recommended for summer weekends, though a few first-come sites remain available for spontaneous trips.
