Hiawatha National Forest Two Hearted River Upper Dispersed Sites
A handful of primitive sites scattered along the upper Two Hearted River, accessed via forest roads deep in the Hiawatha National Forest. These spots sit in mature hardwood forest with river access, popular with steelhead anglers and hunters during fall seasons. No facilities whatsoever — pack it in, pack it out. Sites can accommodate 2-3 rigs each, with natural fire rings from previous campers.
Access via Forest Road 407 off County Road 414, then another 8 miles of rough two-track. Road can be muddy after rain and is typically impassable from December through March. No cell service. The area sees moderate use during steelhead runs in spring and fall, but remains quiet most summer weekends.
