Hiawatha National Forest Pine Ridge Dispersed Sites
A collection of pull-off sites along Forest Road 2236 and its spurs, tucked into second-growth pine and hardwood forest about 20 miles southwest of Munising. Most sites are single-rig spots with natural fire rings, decent tree cover, and room for a modest camp setup. The area sees moderate use during fall color season but stays quiet most of the year. No facilities beyond what previous campers have left behind.
Access via FR 2236 off County Road H-58 — the first two miles are decent gravel, then it gets rougher with some seasonal mud holes. High-clearance recommended but not always required. Sites are unmarked and you’ll need to scout for the best fit. Water available from seasonal creeks but treat before drinking.
