Cowan’s Gap State Park Campground

Established Campground

Cowan’s Gap sits at 1,200 feet elevation around a 42-acre mountain lake, offering 234 sites spread across wooded loops with flush toilets, hot showers, and a camp store. The park sees heavy weekend traffic from May through October, but weekday spots are usually available. Sites 180-234 in the upper loop offer more privacy and better access to the lake. Fire rings and picnic tables at every site, plus a boat launch and swimming beach.

Located on PA Route 75 about 10 miles west of McConnellsburg, the park serves as solid base camp for exploring nearby Tuscarora State Forest roads. The entrance road is paved but some interior campground roads turn to gravel. Open April through October with reduced facilities in shoulder seasons.
