Glacier National Park Apgar Campground
Apgar sits right on the south shore of Lake McDonald, giving you front-row seats to Glacier’s towering peaks across the water. The campground has 194 sites spread through old-growth forest, most accommodating RVs up to 40 feet. Sites 1-25 are closest to the lake with premium views. Expect it packed June through September — this is one of the park’s most popular campgrounds.
Located at the park’s west entrance, it’s the easiest to access and stays open longest in the season. The nearby Apgar Village has basic supplies, boat rentals, and the park visitor center. Reserve well ahead for summer — walk-up sites are rare. Winter camping available but road access depends on snow conditions.
