Lillooet River FSR

Glacier-fed wilderness through Coast Mountain rainforest

Moderate

The Lillooet River FSR cuts north from Pemberton through some of the most pristine temperate rainforest in the Coast Mountains, following the milky glacier-fed Lillooet River toward its headwaters below the Pemberton Icefield. This active logging road winds through old-growth cedar and hemlock stands, crossing numerous tributaries on single-lane bridges while offering glimpses of towering peaks like Mount Meager. The route dead-ends at the Meager Creek Hot Springs area, where natural thermal pools provide a worthy reward after hours of rough forest service road driving.

Moderate difficulty with sections of loose gravel, deep potholes, and active logging traffic requiring radio protocol on channel 28. High-clearance 4WD recommended, especially in wet conditions when clay sections become treacherous. Best accessed May through October when snow clears from higher elevations. No permits required but check BC Forest Service for active logging schedules. Fuel up in Pemberton – it’s your last reliable stop. Multiple dispersed camping spots along the river, but pack out everything in this pristine watershed.
