Zebra River Lodge Campground — Naukluft Mountains
Zebra River Lodge sits on a private farm on the western fringe of the Naukluft Mountains, roughly 50 km northeast of Maltahöhe. The campsite is tucked into a rocky canyon setting with Ana and camelthorn trees providing decent shade — rare luxury in this part of the Hardap. Sites are semi-private, with braai stands and access to ablutions with flush toilets and hot showers. It’s a small operation, family-run, and that’s exactly what makes it worth stopping at. You’ll find cold drinks, basic farm supplies, and honest advice on the canyon track ahead.
The lodge is a legitimate staging point for the Zebra River Canyon hike and for overlanders threading through the Naukluft via Büllsport. Access is off gravel roads from the C14 and C19 junction area — high-clearance is standard kit here, 4WD recommended if recent rain has hit. Book ahead in season (May–September); the place is small and fills up with hikers and overlanders who know the score.
