Valley of Fire State Park Campground

Nevada's oldest state park campground sits among red sandstone formations with clean facilities and fire rings.

Two developed campground areas (Atlatl Rock and Arch Rock) provide 72 sites total among the red Aztec sandstone formations that give this park its name. Sites have picnic tables, fire rings, and access to restrooms with flush toilets and showers. The campground fills up on weekends from October through April when temperatures are comfortable. Summer camping is brutal — shade is minimal and temperatures hit 115°F regularly.

Located 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas off I-15, this makes a solid base camp for exploring the park’s petroglyphs, natural arches, and slot canyons. Reservations are essential during peak season. The visitor center stocks ice, firewood, and basic supplies.
