This otherworldly landscape features maze-like passages between towering red sandstone fins that rise 200+ feet from the desert floor. The formations create a cathedral-like atmosphere with shafts of light filtering through narrow gaps overhead. Popular with photographers for its dramatic lighting conditions, especially during golden hour. Gets busy on weekends but remains relatively unknown compared to Valley of Fire.
Access via Gold Butte Road requires high-clearance vehicle for the final few miles over rough desert terrain. No facilities or shade — bring plenty of water. Best visited October through April when temperatures are manageable. GPS recommended as the area lacks clear signage and cell service is nonexistent.
