Torres del Paine Mirador Base Torres
Mirador Base Torres delivers the postcard view of Torres del Paine’s three granite spires rising 2,800 feet above a glacial lagoon. The 11-mile round-trip hike starts from Las Torres Hotel parking area, climbing through lenga forest before crossing the Cuernos moraine field to reach the base of the towers. The final hour involves boulder-hopping up a steep talus slope to the mirador at 2,970 feet elevation.
Trail can be extremely windy with gusts over 60 mph common. Start before dawn for sunrise light on the towers and to avoid afternoon crowds — this is the park’s busiest trail. Weather changes rapidly; carry layers, rain gear, and extra food. The final approach requires scrambling over loose rock, so solid hiking boots essential.
