Conaf Camping Lagunas Altas Torres del Paine
A no-frills Conaf-managed campground at 1,200 meters elevation, serving as a staging point for multi-day treks into Torres del Paine’s interior. Six designated sites with basic pit toilets and a simple wind shelter — no running water, no fire rings due to park regulations. Gets hammered by Patagonian winds but offers direct access to the Cuernos del Paine route without the crowded base areas.
Access via a rough 8-kilometer dirt track that branches off the main park road near Laguna Azul. High-clearance recommended during wet months when the road turns to greasy clay. Open year-round but most usable October through March when water sources along the trails aren’t frozen.
High-altitude staging for Torres backcountry access.
