Superior National Forest Harris Lake Dispersed Sites
A series of primitive sites along the undeveloped shoreline of Harris Lake, reached by a network of overgrown logging roads. The sites sit on granite outcrops and sandy beaches, with mature pines providing natural windbreaks. Each spot accommodates one or two vehicles and offers direct lake access for launching small watercraft. Fire rings are present but bring your own grate. The fishing for walleye and northern pike is exceptional.
The final 3 miles require 4WD due to washed-out culverts and deep sand pockets. Best accessed during dry periods from June through September. Mosquitoes can be brutal in early summer, but the isolation makes it worthwhile for those seeking true wilderness camping.
