Most sites accommodate 1-2 vehicles with established fire rings and level tent spots. The area stays relatively uncrowded compared to the formal campgrounds further up the trail, though weekend traffic picks up during peak fall colors.

Access is straightforward via the paved Gunflint Trail, with sites visible from the main road but set back enough for privacy. Open seasonally from ice-out (typically May) through October. Some sites offer lake access to smaller unnamed ponds perfect for morning coffee and canoe launching.
