Quiraing — Isle of Skye Landslip Viewpoint
The Quiraing is a mass of pinnacles, cliffs, and tilted tabletop plateaus formed by an ancient and still-active landslip on the eastern face of the Trotternish Ridge. The single-track road crossing the ridge between Staffin and Uig is one of the most spectacular drives in Scotland — steep, narrow, and occasionally scoured by rockfall debris on the carriageway. The car park sits right at the base of the formation. Dawn and dusk light here is other-worldly.
The road itself demands attention: tight passing places, loose stone on the verges, and sheep that own every right of way. Summit cloud rolls in fast. Best visited May through September for clear views, though October mist has its own brutality. No fuel up here — top up in Portree before heading north.
Scotland's most dramatic road-accessible ridge.
