Qassiarsuk Sheep Farm Water Source
This working sheep farm sits across the fjord from Narsarsuaq and maintains Greenland’s most reliable freshwater source outside the major settlements. The artesian well pumps clean, cold water year-round through a simple hand pump setup near the main barn. The farming family is used to travelers and generally welcomes water fills with a polite ask first.
Access is by boat from Narsarsuaq during ice-free months, or snowmobile/dogsled in winter. The farm operates one of Greenland’s few road vehicles — an ancient Land Rover that’s become something of a local legend. Water is free, but buying some lamb or wool products from the farm store shows proper trail courtesy.
