Narsarsuaq Museum and Cultural Center

Point of Interest

Built on the bones of the old Bluie West One air base, this museum sits at the crossroads of three cultures — Norse, Inuit, and American military. The main building houses Viking artifacts from nearby Brattahlid along with traditional Inuit tools and kayaks. Outside, a restored C-47 and Norseman aircraft remind you this was once the staging point for Arctic supply runs.

Open seasonally May through September, though hours can be erratic depending on staffing. The museum sits right next to the airstrip, making it an easy stop before or after flights to Iceland. No entrance fee, but donations appreciated. The gift shop stocks local handicrafts and surprisingly decent trail maps of the region.
