Olympic Peninsula — Mora Campground
Mora sits at the end of Mora Road outside Forks, right where the Quillayute River dumps into the Pacific coastline. It’s the base camp for anyone running the Olympic Peninsula’s coastal forest roads — 94 sites, flush toilets, piped water, and a ranger station nearby. The vibe is dense old-growth Sitka spruce and alder, perpetually damp, with the ocean a short walk away at Rialto Beach. Crowds peak hard July through August, especially on sunny weekends when the coast is accessible.
Access is paved the whole way, so any rig gets in. This is a reservation-heavy camp in summer — book ahead on Recreation.gov or show up before noon on a weekday. It’s the logical overnight for anyone exiting or staging for FSR 2140 and the coastal forest service road network. Rain gear is non-negotiable; even in July this place gets wet. Bears are active — use the food storage boxes.
