Lukeville / Gringo Pass RV and Tent Campground — Arizona-Sonora Border Crossing Basecamp

Sitting right at the Lukeville–Sonoyta border crossing, this privately operated campground is the de facto staging point for rigs heading into El Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar Biosphere Reserve. It’s nothing fancy — pull-throughs, a handful of tent pads, pit toilets, and basic hookups for rigs that want shore power before a desert push. The Lukeville general store and gas station are steps away, making it the last reliable fuel and resupply on the US side before crossing into Sonora.

Cross early, clear customs while the office is quiet, and you can be at the Elegante Crater rim by midday. Summer heat here is punishing — late October through March is the window most desert runners use. No shade worth mentioning, so get your kit sorted the night before and move at first light.
