Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument Twin Peaks Campground
Twin Peaks sits in a natural amphitheater surrounded by organ pipe cacti, saguaros, and the jagged Ajo Mountains. The 208 sites are spread across multiple loops with decent spacing, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Water and restrooms are centrally located, but no hookups or showers. Nights get surprisingly cold in winter, and summer camping is borderline masochistic — locals know to avoid May through September entirely.
The campground fills up during peak desert season (January-March) when snowbirds and wildflower chasers descend. No reservations taken — it’s first-come, first-served with a 14-day limit. The entrance road is paved, but some interior loops have rough gravel that’ll rattle your teeth loose.
